The Equine Taping – Level 2 course is formatted to attend directly after the EQ1700: Equine Taping – Level 1 course. Upon completing the externships for both levels (as well as completing the Equinology Equine Body Worker Certification (EEBW) or comparable program), the student will earn the Equinology® Equine Tape Practitioner (EETP) qualification.

At this advanced level, extra lab time is allowed for attendees to practice their skills on various clinical applications. Level 2 will allow the instructor to cater to specific practitioner protocols, clinical applications, and conditions.

In the realm of taping techniques, correct tension and application require supervision by your instructor. We can not stress this enough. This can not be taught through video. In this two-day course, the student will be able to identify the areas of the horse that may require these taping methods beyond the basic level and address these areas.

COURSE OUTLINE:

  • Advanced Taping Clinical Applications
  • Theoretical Description and Discussion of Taping for Equines
  • Advanced Taping Labs
  • Case Discussions
  • Review of Level 1 Theory and Applications

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course is designed for individuals who work professionally in the equine health industry to continue developing the skills and theory presented in the EQ1700 Level 1 Course.

The objectives for these courses are as follows:

  • Identify the areas of the horse that may require these taping methods beyond the basic level
  • List and identify contraindications to the use of taping methods
  • Understand the advanced properties and uses of taping for horses
  • Demonstrate the use of equine taping in regards to tendon/ligament and space correction techniques, functional and fascial correction techniques and lymphatic advanced correction techniques
  • Utilize the muscle applications presented in the course to make positive changes for client horses
  • Integrate the knowledge of conformation and movement in regards to the realistic capabilities of the horse and tactfully discuss these finding with the client
  • Interpret the response from the horse in regards to his adapted movement and redirected movement to gain insight into whether the horse is improving or requires veterinary intervention

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
After completing the Level 2 course, the student will be able to:

  • Discuss and apply tape to relax overuse syndromes, stimulate weaker muscles and decrease pain and swelling
  • Identify areas that will benefit from the application of tape beyond the basic level
  • Incorporate the use of the advanced tape in the participants existing practice
  • Design an individualized tape protocol for different clinical conditions and communicate reasons for application of the tape with the veterinarian and owner responsible for the horse
  • Evaluate the overall progress of the horse in response to the taping sessions
  • Create a suitable progressive session using corrective techniques of the taping (functional, space, fascia, ligament/tendon and lymphatic system)
